QUIZ CREATE DIGITAL STORES TO IMPROVE THE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

Quiz are one of the new breed of fast fashion retailers aiming at millenials and providing them with “occasion and dressy casual wear”. They have 73 standalone UK stores, 165 concessions and 65 franchise stores across 19 countries and are growing quickly thanks to funding raised through their recent listing as a Plc.

Quiz obsess about the customer experience and have developed a  multichannel strategy to ensure they provide the best possible service. One of the key objectives within this was to ensure that customers could self serve in-store as they can online and also that the store teams had the necessary tools to enable them to assist the customer. This required a commitment to and investment in an in-store  digital transformation programme.

Assisted Sale iPads

Quiz were keen to ensure that store staff could assist customers when faced with stock out positions or when they were looking for items that were online exclusives.
They ran a successful trial of the Assisted Sale iPad application from One iota which allows store team members to search product, create baskets place orders for home delivery and take payment. This via the integrated contactless payment solution from One iota’s partner and leading omni channel payment specialists Adyen. The iPads also have an embedded ‘Metrics’ service which provides the store, regional and head office teams with a view of what is selling via this channel, where it is selling and who are the top performing stores across the company.

The ipad solution was subsequently rolled this out across all 73 of the owned estate to help the teams engage with customers and drive sales.. The iPad Metrics views allow the trading teams to look at who are their best performing sales personnel and help them share their knowledge across the group.
The solution has allowed them to capture potentially ‘lost sales’ and allows staff members to assist customers which impacts both average basket size and conversion rates. One iota’s solution has a proven track record of delivering a 5-10% uplift in store sales for retailers who have used this solution including JD Sports, Superdry and Life Style Sports and now Quiz.

Self Service Kiosks

Quiz were also keen to ensure that store customers could self serve should for any reason there not be a member of staff available to assist them, for example at busy times of the day. Self Service kiosks were introduced to the flagship and larger stores.

Quiz chose the One iota kiosk application which allows the top screens run in digital signage mode with the lower screen running in shoppable kiosk model with an embedded Chip & Pin device and payment software from One iota partner Adyen, the global omnichannel payment specialist. The hardware is provided by one of One iota’s other long term partners, Evoke Creative who also supply kiosks to the likes of JD Sports, McDonalds and Google.
The kiosks but they are helping customers search for and find product which is increasing conversion. The kiosks are also used regularly in an assisted sale mode to build outfits as well as in self serve mode which mean average basket order values are increasing as well.

Digital Signage

Like many retailers Quiz have a number of screens in stores that usually have a local device that runs content on a loop. This leaves little room for responding to market trends, stock outs, weather related trading opportunities and so on.
Much like with the ipad trial Quiz are currently experimenting at Head Office with a ‘retrofit’ digital signage solution from One iota, a WiFi enabled mini PC which can be plugged into the screens and allow marketing and merchandising teams to curate and control content and campaigns from One iota’s cloud based digital signage platform.
Once live Quiz will be far more agile in terms of being able to control content to drive sales, for example removing low stock items from digital signage if stock levels are low or other items have better rates of sale or margins.
