One iota welcomes back original founders to drive growth plan

One iota today announces plans to expand and accelerate its digital retail capabilities as it sees the return of its original founders, Damian Hanson and David Hague, back into the business.

The business was originally founded in 2010 and One iota achieved significant early growth. This led to its acquisition by Sanderson Group Plc in 2013 as one of the UK’s most highly regarded digital retail technology specialists.

Having all been appointed by Hanson and Hague following their 3-year earn out period in 2016, Christian Brooks then led and completed a Management Buy-out of the business in 2020. With his leadership and that of the senior team of Ed Lawrenson and James Lendrum, One iota has continued to expand and counts leading brands such as Hugo Boss, Pro:Direct, SportsShoes.com, Regatta and many others as key customers.

Following recent discussions Christian decided the time was right to welcome the founders both back into lead and invest in the business with plans to accelerate into new technological areas as part of a growth strategy.

Commenting on the deal Christian Brooks, former CEO of One iota commented “I am delighted to welcome both Damian and David back to the very first startup they co-founded. Their original vision was excellent and some of the passion and energy they have shown for the continued development of One iota is exciting and refreshing. I look forward to supporting them, our talented team and our valued customers on the journey in the coming years”.

Hanson and Hague have built and exited several businesses together in the last 15 years, One iota being one, but also Mission Labs Limited that was acquired by Gamma Communications in 2021 for £46m.

Damian Hanson commented “We are delighted to be back working with the fantastic customers and talented team at One iota.  The business has achieved a great deal in recent years, and we believe under our leadership it will continue to flourish”.

David Hague added: “Whilst the retail technology sector has advanced significantly I know that our future vision in the retail sector will delight our existing customers and attract new retail brands. We can’t wait to build the business further from here.”

One iota is based at the Sharp Project, Manchester. Christian will remain with the business in an advisory capacity with Ed Lawrenson and James Lendrum retaining key leadership roles ongoing.
